BENNETT — The Bennett School District will be back open for classes on Monday, Dec. 12, after closing Dec. 8 because of the frigid cold that hit the area overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.
Bennett Elementary will be open despite waiting on repairs for a breached sewer pipe underneath the school’s cafeteria in the northwest corner of the building.
The busted line was reported mid-afternoon Dec. 7, but Superintendent Robin Purdy said the malfunction was not the reason school was closed the next day. All indications are the repairs to the sewer will start Tuesday, Dec. 13. An exact time frame on how long the work will take is unknown.
Purdy said changes to the breakfast and lunch menus and a modified food service process will be implemented until the repairs are completed.
