  • Today CDOT to Hold Press Conference on Unbuckled Fatalities, Dropping Seat Belt Use Rate

    DENVER — So far this year, 147 people not wearing seat belts have died in vehicle crashes in Colorado (as of Sept. 20). In addition, traffic fatalities are trending higher compared to last year. To discuss the seat belt crisis in Colorado and the continued need for public education around seat belt use, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will hold a press conference TODAY, Sept. 27 at the McNichols Civic Center Building in Civic Center Park, Downtown Denver. CDOT will present information about Colorado’s high crash fatality numbers and recent data showing that the state’s seat belt use rate has dropped. CDOT will also reveal a new visual tactic at Civic Center Park that highlights the startling number of unbuckled fatalities so far this year.
